The Phoenix Paper Mill is located in Nanning, Guangxi Province, where the hardness of the tap water is above 200ppm. Due to the production of scale on the production line, the mill had to stop production for one day every two weeks to clean the scale. We had used domestic electronic descalers before, but they ended in failure. In April 2001, the factory installed a Hydropath CU-24 electronic descaler three floors above the ground, near the heat exchange pipes. No one was willing to pay more to move the unit from this location because there was no more suitable location.。

Five months after installation, there is no longer any need to stop production due to limescale problems. The factory made an estimate of at least $85,000 per year in savings in cleaning and maintenance costs and downtime alone (not counting energy savings)。
